Eye Tests
The best possible eye health starts with regular eye tests.

The importance of regular eye tests.
Many people overlook the real significance of eye tests but here’s why they’re so important:
To detect early signs of common eye conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration which can lead to irreversible vision loss if not caught early and treated for.
To detect signs of other general health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and even cancer.
To ensure your prescription is up-to-date, even if you already have glasses, so you experience the clearest vision possible and avoid unnecessary eye strain or headaches.
Our Eye Tests
1. Eye health Screening
Before your test, we’ll perform an eye health screening to assess the condition of your eyes.
Your screening may include:
- Auto-refractor: Determines your prescription by having you look at a distant image like a hot air balloon.
- Non-contact tonometer: Measures eye pressure with a gentle puff of air.
- Digital retinal photography: Takes a photo of your eyes to check for health.
- Visual field test: Evaluates your field of view.
2. Main Eye Test
After your eye health screening, you’ll have the main eye test, where your optician will assess your vision more thoroughly. We’ll ask about your eyes, general health, medications, lifestyle, and any family history of eye conditions.
Common tests include:
- Letter chart: Reading letters to assess your vision.
- Slit lamp: Examining your pupils and eye health with light and magnification.
- Cover test: Checking how well your eyes work together and separately.
3. Recommendation
After your eye test, your optician will explain your results, discuss your eye health, and inform you of any prescription changes.
They may suggest lifestyle adjustments for better eye care, like reducing screen time or improving your diet. You can ask any questions you may have about your vision. And if new glasses or contact lenses are recommended, we’ll help you find the perfect pair based on your needs.
FREE EYE TESTS
You will be entitled to a Free NHS Eye test if any of the following apply to you:
- Over 60 years old.
- Have diabetes.
- Have glaucoma.
- Over 40 with a sibling or parent with glaucoma.
- Registered blind or partially sighted.

Advanced Eye Exams with OCT scans
We offer OCT scans as part of our advanced eye exams. This technology allows us to detect early signs of eye problems like glaucoma or macular degeneration, especially for those over 60 or with a family history of eye issues. Catching problems early helps maintain your quality of life and keeps your eyes healthy for years.
