Home Eye Tests
Professional eye care from the comfort of your own home. For elderly or housebound customers.

Am I eligible for a home eye test?
You’re eligible for a home eye test if you:
- Living with a diagnosed mental health condition stopping you from leaving your house unaccompanied.
- Be housebound or bed bound due to a physical disability.
- Have a condition stopping you from leaving your house unaccompanied due to poor health.
Our home eye tests
Our home eye test brings professional eye care right to your doorstep, for the elderly or housebound customers. Our optometrist will visit at a convenient time with all the equipment needed to provide a thorough eye examination, just like in our clinic.
If the assessment shows you need glasses, we’ll take care of everything. We’ll schedule a second visit to take your measurements and bring you a variety of frames, as well as standard NHS options, for you to choose from. Once they’re ready, we’ll deliver them straight to your home, making our quality eye care easy and accessible for everyone.

What happens in a home eye test?
1. Before the test
Before your visit, you’ll receive the optometrist’s and sometimes the assistant’s name. They’ll choose a suitable testing area in your home, or adapt to your preferred location. The optometrist will ask about your eye health and recent changes before setting up an electronic test chart for any space.
2. In the Eye test
Your optometrist will test your vision, check for eye health issues like glaucoma or diabetes, and assess eye movement. They may use tools like a pressure device, eye drops, and a retinoscope to measure refractive errors. Additional tests like reading charts or lens adjustments may follow for accuracy.
3. Choosing your glasses
Once your eye test is complete, the optometrist will tell you whether you need to begin wearing glasses or update your current glasses prescription. They’ll talk you through our wide range of frames and lenses to help you decide on your perfect pair of glasses. You may be eligible for a free pair, if you qualify for NHS funding for glasses.
4. Delivering your glasses
Your new glasses will be individually made to match your prescription. As soon as they’re ready for you, we’ll be in touch to schedule a convenient date for your delivery.
